ILKLEY'S new MP John Grogan has said he will not be accepting any front bench shadow minister appointments during the coming parliamentary term. I will obviously be speaking up in Parliament and in a range of committees but I will not be a shadow minister."

LABOUR'S John Grogan has promised to hit the ground running after taking the Keighley seat from Conservative Kris Hopkins. He expects a range of in-depth briefings on vital Keighley issues like the incinerator, the public-sector hub in North Street, and the newly-announced Aire Valley Retail Park.

And he pledged next week to hold the first of his much-promised surgeries open to all across the constituency.

To the door-knockers, pavement-pounders, leaflet-printers and phone-callers. To the T-shirt-makers, envelope-stuffers, data-crunchers and lift-givers. And the status-sharers, campaign-funders, placard-wavers and conversation-starters. Thank you so much.
