A TRIO of good causes received cheques totalling £4,445 at Keighley's Broomhill Co-op on Saturday. (Nov 25) The store's customers who are Co-op members had raised the cash through the store's community fund, with one per cent of their Co-op branded purchases at the shop going towards the fund.
Organisations could then bid for grants from this scheme, which has nationally raised a total of £20 million.
On Saturday, the cheques were presented to the Friends of Phoenix School, People First Keighley and Craven and the One in a Million Streetwise project,
The money was presented by Keighley MP John Grogan.
Also present on the day was Broomhill Co-op store manager Greg Ellis, who said: "I'm absolutely delighted with the funds raised.
"Local people who have shopped at our Co-op have been exceptionally generous for these three good causes.
"Mr Grogan is a busy man and I'd like to thank him for coming up and not only handing out the cheques but talking to the groups involved."
