 OPPONENTS of plans to build a waste to energy incinerator in Keighley vowed to keep up the momentum at their latest public meeting. About 120 members of the public attended the event in Central Hall, Alice Street, last night. (Oct 2)

 WILDLIFE presenter and naturalist Chris Packham has urged Bradford councillors to “do the right thing” and end grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor ahead of a key decision. The ten-year contract which allows shooting on the public moor comes to an ends in April next year when Bradford Council will have to make a decision whether to renew the contract or not.

KEIGHLEY MP John Grogan is backing a campaign to stop pubs going down the tubes. He is calling on Chancellor Philip Hammond to help the industry in the Autumn budget.
Mr Grogan is among over 50 MPs supporting an initiative calling for annual £5,000 business rate relief for pubs in England and a beer duty freeze for the rest of this Parliament.

 A GOVERNMENT consultation could see the number of homes planned for the district cut significantly. Among the proposals is the adoption of a standard method for calculating local authorities' housing need. It would take into account factors such as the difference between the average house price in an area and average wages.
