A TRADE union has blasted what it says are "disastrous" plans to create a company to run major parts of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. UNISON, backed by Keighley and Ilkley MP John Grogan, said the move would amount to privatisation, and would destroy staff pay and conditions.

MPs are working across the political divide to protect green belt in Wharfedale. Labour MP John Grogan, who represents Keighley and Ilkley, has been having discussions on the issue with Shipley MP, Conservative Philip Davies. Mr Grogan told a meeting of Ilkley Parish Council that he wanted to see a change in national policy and a return to a brownfield development first approach.

A CHINESE takeaway has reopened with community support after the previous owners were hit by anti-social behaviour. The Lucky House in Braithwaite Avenue, Keighley, closed after youths regularly hung around outside deterring customers and antagonising staff. The Ling family, who have lived in Braithwaite for a couple of years, took over the derelict building and transformed it into Ling’s Kitchen.

David Cameron was uncomfortably close to the truth when, in 2015, the then Prime Minister responded to a question on devolution by remarking – in an unguarded moment – that “we just thought people in Yorkshire hated everyone else, we didn’t realise they hated each other so much”.
