DISMAY has greeted the shock announcement this week that Keighley Police Station is to be sold off. It is among a total of seven properties to be offloaded by West Yorkshire Police, including the former station in Bingley. But MPs and councillors have attacked the decision.

ILKLEY MP John Grogan has pledged his backing to the battle against cancer. He vowed to help promote the cause on the political agenda when he attended a Parliamentary event staged by Cancer Research UK. Mr Grogan also met some of the charity's volunteer campaign ambassadors.

KEIGHLEY MP John Grogan has added his signature to a giant card produced to celebrate the 80th birthday of David Hockney. Mr Grogan visited Cartwright Hall in Bradford to sign the card, which was made by Hallmark. It is hoped to gather 22,000 signatures and set a new world record.

CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans to build a waste-to-energy incinerator in Keighley have welcomed a report which argues against further expansion of the sector. Consultancy Eunomia says a boom in building incinerators could make it impossible for the UK to meet future recycling targets, because companies operating the plants will need waste to ‘feed’ them.
